What is LMT?
LMT stands for Licensed Massage Therapist. This title is awarded to individuals who successfully pass the biannual Department of Health (DOH) Massage Licensure examinations in key locations across the Philippines, including Manila, Cebu, and Davao. Occasionally, exams are conducted in other areas as well.
To qualify for the LMT exams, applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. Completion of an LMT training program from a DOH-accredited institution.
2. At least a high school diploma.
3. A medical certificate.
4. An NBI clearance.
5. A Barangay Certificate of Good Moral Character.
The LMT exam consists of a theoretical/written exam (100 items) and a practical/oral exam. Candidates must pass the written exam before they can take the practical exam.
In the country today, only those with a valid DOH massage license (LMT) are allowed to set up a spa/massage business.
